Our Second Raffle Winners Are Getting Away!

Congratulations to Nora Mady, Abby Sadek, and Hoda Atia Moustafa for being our Getaway winners! Lucky them, they are headed for a 3 Day and 2 Night Getaway Vacation for Two at any number of destinations of their choice!

Spring2ACTion Results and Grand Prizes!

Spring2ACTion was an amazing day for EWI. Thanks to your support and generous donations, EWI was able to raise over $24,000!

As promised, individuals who donated in the following prize levels were entered into the grand prize raffles associated with each giving level:

ONE More Empowered Woman = ONE More Empowered Man

We’re still in the office! A few volunteers, the 2 staff members, some brave empowered men, and the cleaning crew – all on the top of the world making phone calls and emailing our friends and supporters 🙂

The race is still on until midnight, so do we. Thank you so much for being the most supportive community ever!

Here is were we are … We’re in 2nd place for the organization with the most donors and $9,321 raised! We’re also in 2nd place with our EWI RED TEAM and could still go up to 1st place. Not bad at all, but we need help to stay strong and in the lead!

Now that we are reaching our final hours in the competition it is more important than ever that you donate! So far we have raised $9,458 and counting. This puts at 2nd on the overall leader board and 2nd place on the individual leader board. With your help we can move up to first in the individual category!

Stylesmiths is a style consulting company based in Washington, DC. It was founded by Kelley Smith, a Vanderbilt University graduate experienced in styling fashion shoots for agency signed models, designers, and fashion photographers in the D.C. region.

Stylesmiths has strong relationships with local designers. It offers several services including the initial style consultation, personal shopping, event styling, closet audits, travel wardrobes and style management.

16 Donations Between 6-7pm! – Two More Great Prizes!

Wow! Between 6pm and 7pm 16 individuals donated to support EWI during Spring2ACTion!

We have two special prizes for our donors who generously donated between the hours of 6pm and 7pm.

First up, we have a beautiful Kanga cloth from Tanzania! This floral printed Kanga cloth was donated by Mariam, a native of Tanzania and current student in Entrepreneur Training for Success Spring 2012.

Kanga fabric, a rectangular cotton, has three characteristics: it has border design called Pindo, a main body in the middle called Mji (town), and Ujumbe (message). Kanga is a wearable cloth that conveys messages to others depending on the design and the way it is worn.

The Kanga cloth goes to…. David Katz!

Up next we have another beautiful colored-pencil drawing by Doler! Doler, a native of India and current Entrepreneur Training for Success Spring 2012 student, has graciously donated this original portrait drawing.

Congratulations to Ellen P. Smith, you have just won a 2-hour introduction class to Famous Egyptian Cooking with Aida Mady! Aida is a student in EWI’s Entrepreneur Training for Success, Spring 2012 class. Aida is talented chef and would like to expand her interests to pursue a business in which she can use her culinary skills. She specializes in Egyptian cuisine and would like to share her passion for food by teaching others how to cook these specialty dishes.

Our next prize is a $50 gift certificate to the lovely Layla’s Lebanese Restaurant located in Old Town Alexandria!

It’s 12pm, which means we are giving away four prizes!

Big thank you to Doler, Jennifer Schwing, Jennifer Folsom, and Bittersweet for sponsoring this afternoon’s Prizes.

This original drawing by current ETS student, Doler and her husband moved to the United States in 1980. She has a fine arts degree in structural and textile design. As a result of their combined efforts, Doler and her husband decided to open up an Indian restaurant in 1981.

Now, Doler is ready to shift her career path and begin teaching cooking classes instead of running a restaurant. While operating her restaurants, Doler became an accomplished chef. She provides her customers with nutrition information and where in India the food originated.

The lucky winner is Tiffany Carler, who won the original drawing by Doler!

We’ve Reached $2,500!!!

This floral arrangement was created by Clementine Simmons, owner of Fruit of the Spirit Floral Designs. Clementine is a current ETS student. She has 10 years of experience in creating unique and individualized bouquets and displays for weddings, anniversary celebrations, and special events, as well as for homes and offices.
