This is a proven three-month business training, mentoring and coaching program, that helps women launch businesses, gain leadership skills, integrate in the community, and give back.
Some of the women beneficiaries seek employment, and others seek to launch their own businesses, often using skills they developed in their homelands. Many are talented artists, artisans, designers, and other startup entrepreneurs who employ their own skills to make a living and integrate in the community.
Five of the women currently admitted in this program live below poverty level and cannot afford to pay the $250 tuition/person to enroll in this life-changing program.
One of them is Naima, a talented interior decorator living in Alexandria, VA. Naima moved from Morocco to the United States in 2001 to live closer to her three brothers and three sisters.
She is the mother of two children, and a talented designer and decorator, who ran a successful interior design service from her home in Morocco. She learned how to sew from her mother when she was a little girl and began creating quilts at an early age from the colorful scraps of scarves and towels in her home.
Naima first came to EWI in 2010 to learn how to market her design skills, but then some difficult events in her life prevented her from building her business. She faced domestic violence, and considered herself lucky to be alive. After divorcing her abusive husband, Naima returned to EWI.
With help from Dienna Howard, one of our talented volunteers, Naima just got word she has a job interview on Friday at a local hotel. She is happy to take any work to make ends meet, while building her startup business.
Please make a tax-deductible gift now and join Empowered Women International in our efforts to provide women with renewed hope and pathways to self-sufficiency.
Thank you for your generous support. Let’s give these women a chance to re-build their lives!
Onward and upward!
